Speed and user experience matters, that’s why we focused on those for this update. Especially when improving on first translates into the second. We asked pro chefs about the kitchen management systems that they are using – it takes them 30-60 sec to enter a well-described product! And still, this is nothing, compared to what they get in return – precise inventory tracking and accurate shopping planning. This operation is way faster and simpler in CozZo (6-9 sec) – good, but we decided that we have to do better. CozZo 1.4 “Dark Chocolate” also improves various usability aspects and overall look-and-feel of the app.
Smart unit selection. Adding “Water 2” to your shopping list (and sending it in an SMS) is not much of a help – is it 2 bottles, 2 litres or 2 packs?
Unit selection in CozZo is available from version 1.0, but you had to tap on a button, scroll in a 10-items list and set a choice. Not anymore – an intelligent scroll was created for an instant pick! With the help of our amazing Facebook fans, we found the best place for it – on top of Quantity selection.
When CozZo proposes a product Category(or you select one) the list of units in the scroll filters to only ones that are relevant, letting you pick one without any hassle. We ran our “10 new products” timing test to see how the new control compares to the old one – an average of 4 seconds less time per product!
If there is a category in Guinness book of records for “Fastest product entry UI” we are ready to apply with CozZo 1.4 🙂
“Low” quantity. When something is looking to finish soon but is not urgent for replenishment the best way to track it is by noting that it is running out. We introduced a special quantity of “low” to let you do this without playing with grams and millilitres. For “low” products CozZo shows a nifty gauge icon.
It works in the most intuitive way – lowering the quantity of any product brings you to “Blank” one, as before. You will notice that the “-” button changes to a dotted down arrow. Tap on it and quantity goes to “low”. Tap on “+” and it goes back to whatever value you choose.
Yeah, it is that easy.
“Shadow” products. Favorites and Reuse lists in CozZo work in a different way than “At home” and “To Buy”. A necessary design choice was to create an “illusion” for moving the product from them to the shopping cart. Some users noted, however, that hiding the product after the move is leading them to think that it is no longer a Fav one.
So, a special way of showing where the product currently is was invented. When Fav or Reuse item is placed for shopping or in home list, a greyed-out representation (shadow) remains. With a small icon, we show where he is. Swipe actions are limited to allowed ones.
Multifunctional tab icons. We’re starting to expand the function of CozZo tab icons, starting with “To Buy”. Long-press on it to activate “Remove All” dialogue. YES will move all products from your shopping list back to Reuse.
This bulk remove is especially handy for cleaning up the “template list” after app install. A bulk “Buy All” action is also under development and will arrive in next update.
Existing users will notice a few design touches that hopefully will bring a bit more pleasing experience. Sign-in buttons on CozZo welcome screen got re-arranged to better display the “Guest Entry” option.
At the end – we’re super thankful for all responses on NEW screen design – they were so many, we can’t list them as we did the last time.
